Kewaunee County Youth Soccer Association General Information
Important Parent Information for Summer Soccer Program
Ethics Code
You will obtain a copy at the time of registration. It is your responsibility to understand that this pertains to you, your friends and family watching the game, and your child, the player. THIS WILL BE ENFORCED. A child may not play if both the parent and the player do not sign the code of ethics.
WIAA Soccer Athletes
If your child plays WIAA soccer, he/she cannot participate in KCYSA soccer until the WIAA season is complete for him/her. They will be assigned to a team, but will not be able to practice or play a game until they are done with WIAA. We are working with the schools involved to make sure we are aware of their schedules. If your child does play KCYSA soccer while also playing WIAA soccer, the WIAA games will have to be forfeited.
Game Schedules
The 2010 schedule will be posted as soon as it is available.
2010 game nights are as follows:
- Mondays U-8 (6 & 7 yr olds) & U-15 (12, 13 & 14 yr olds)
- Tuesdays U-19 (15-18 yr olds)
- Wednesdays U-10 (8 & 9 yr olds) & U-12 (10 & 11 yr olds)
Thursdays will be used by all age groups for games so that the regular season can draw to a close by July 31st.
Most teams play in Algoma, Kewaunee, and Luxemburg on a rotating basis.
Several of the fields at the Kewaunee Schools will be unavailable for us to use this summer due to field maintenance over the summer of 2010.
Kewaunee games will be played in the following locations:
- U8 and U10 games will be played at the Kewaunee School
- U12 and U15 games will be played on the field by the old hospital
- U19 games will be played in Algoma
Regular season games usually begin the first week of June and end the last week in July followed by the League Tournament the first weekend in August.
Games called for Bad Weather. This can ONLY be done by the field head referee. No coaches or players can make the determination to cancel a game due to inclement weather. It is always your right as a parent to withhold your child from play if you feel it necessary. Normal forfeiture rules apply if a team does not have the minimum amount of players at the start of a game that has not been officially cancelled by the head referee. Please call your coach if you are in doubt or show up at the field at the time of the scheduled game and have your coach ask the head referee if the game has been cancelled.
Make up times for cancelled games will be set by the Director of Scheduling for the organization. Please see the coach’s rulebook for additional information on game cancellations. Please note: KCYSA does not currently govern any of the fields we utilize. For this reason, games may be cancelled if the organization that owns the fields decides to do so.
Practices
Your child’s coach will be contacting you after May 15 with dates, times, and locations for your child’s practice schedule. It is very important for not only your child’s individual skills but for your child’s entire team to learn to play the game together. A child who misses practice, not only loses the opportunity to develop skills for passing, dribbling, etc., but he/she also loses out on the opportunity of learning to do this as a team. Discuss with your coach to see if alternatives can be worked out.
Five-Year-Olds dates and times are set by the coaches in each community, beginning after June 1.
Your Child`s Equipment
Shin guards that are fully covered by a tall knee sock. Tennis shoes or approved soccer cleats. Cleats at the toe are not allowed! Please be aware that SAY does not allow baseball shoes with the toe ground off to be worn. NO METAL!! NO shorts with baggy pockets, loops, or rivets. NO jewelry (including earrings) and NO hard hair accessories!
Bottom line, if you are in doubt if something is legal, do not use it. Items must be completely removed before the player enters the field no taping allowed these are SAY rules. Wait until after soccer season for piercing! No splints or casts see your coach’s handbook for details.
Tournament
Our KCYSA year end tournament is held during the first weekend in August. This involves all teams in our U10, U12, U15, and U19 age groups. Please keep this in mind if your child plays in one of these groups. Schedules of game times will be distributed by coaches when they become available.

Adult Coaches Are Needed
This requires a small investment of your time, but is vital to the success of the soccer program in Kewaunee County. The game of soccer is not complicated, and new coaches receive training on the rules of the game. So even if you have no soccer knowledge or coaching experience, please consider being a coach. If you are interested in making many kids VERY HAPPY, then this job is for you!!
Please see a registration specialist at the time you enroll your child for play. We will discuss training dates/times/locations at a later date.
Adult and Teen Referees Are Needed
ANYONE over the age of 14 can be a referee. If you have a love for the games and kids, THIS IS THE JOB FOR YOU!! Please see a registration specialist at the time you enroll your child for play. We can discuss times/dates/locations for referee rules training.
SAY National’s philosophy is simple; kids are playing soccer to HAVE FUN. Ethics are something that we all must abide by to achieve this goal. Every player plays at least one-half of every game unless for disciplinary action as stated in the coaches rulebook. Let’s see that every child gets the chance to experience a fun and exciting program by volunteering to help, by abiding by the Code of Ethics, and by being the best player and parent/spectator that is possible!
